Wood on Books

OK, I really leave you for the weekend with this, a more substantive bit of James Wood, not that the finger-drumming in the post below isn't substantive. Mark Sarvas has reprinted a list that Wood published in the Guardian 15 years ago. In response to Harold Bloom's The Western Canon, it's Wood's list of the best American and British literature from 1945 to (roughly) 1985. I'm disappointed to see White Noise on there, but otherwise it reads like a valuable checklist.
