You can listen to R.E.M.'s "Supernatural Superserious" below (thanks to Pitchfork). Sounds mostly like a return to form -- including Mike Mills' backing vocals, which have been painfully absent from recent records. It seems like Accelerate might be closest to New Adventures in Hi-Fi in its overall sound, and that would be just fine.
I dont like it. cheap pop. tributary....
ReplyDeleteSo Much Younger Then!
ReplyDeletealthough I like the song, there are so many bands out right now that are pushing the quality standards higher much the same way R.E.M. used to.
ReplyDeletedoes this song raise the bar when compared to "how to save a life",
"icky thump","so says I" or "jesus of suburbia". I would say no, these songs have added something to the landscape of pop music that this song does not.
will I still be rockin' out when the play SUPERNATURAL SUPERSERIOUS at the hollywood bowl on 29 May 2008. you bet.
how to save a life raises the bar? it is middle of the road drivel... the like of which has been heard for years. the new rem song is good, not barrier breaking - but then, what has been barrier breaking in the last 15 years?
