If You Need to Name a Dog...
...my friend "Johannes" might be able to help. A good friend of ours recently got a truly adorable Maltese, and asked people to write in with potential names. Here are just a few of Johannes' suggestions:

I cannot tell you how tempting it is for me to run out to the shelter right now and get a dog, just so I can name him (or her) William Howard Taft, the dog. Thanks for the laugh this afternoon 'Johannes'.
I think the name Dozer is perfect and adorable,
just like the dog. What a cutie! And a great
piece by your friend, the owner.

William Howard Taft, the dog, was my favorite name as well. It's too bad our dog is so small; I don't think he could bear such a weighty name. By the same token, it's too bad he's not a bloodhound or we would go with "Hambone."
As it is, we're still undecided. For now we're calling him "Untitled." Which is not ideal.
