The Main Reason New York Wears You Down. Even Ahead of the Subway.

This is post number 900 in these parts, and I use it to ask a banal but pressing question: I understand my upstairs neighbors watching television at slightly elevated volume levels. I understand their owning a large dog, and the attendant paw-scraping and bark-emitting noises. But for the love of all that's holy, what are they dragging around up there?

my wife and i are convinced that our upstairs neighbors stomp instead of walk and choose fighting over talking. these are the same people that encourage their three-year-old to run through their 2br and drive his motorized ATV down the hall when they think we're not home. these are the people who think (admittedly) that claiming the top-floor apartment first entitles them to be as annoying as they want, as often as they want, without any concern for anyone else.

It is ironic that, as I was reading this post, I was
listening to my upstairs neighbor dragging
something across the floor (not the
vacuum, which I recognize). I have referred to
the lady above as "big foot" and/or "The
Energizer Bunny" because she clomps around
and runs, not walks, all hours of the night.

I've never laid eyes on her or her husband, but
my imagination runs wild. You have my
empathy.
